You know how SoCal has one of the most mild weather year-round right? Well, for the last 4 photoshoots, the weather god has not been on my side! We were constantly threatened by wind and rain and dark scary clouds but thankfully we pulled through anyway. It’s been raining a lot lately so my weather app is being put to good use, with me checking every few hours whenever I have a shoot scheduled. My hubby is becoming an expert at watching dark clouds and making comments like “oh, that’s a small patch of clouds and it’s heading this way but the rain should pass in 15 minutes.” Haha! Although the forecast was nice and sunny all week long, the day before Tuyet & Thuan’s photoshoot, chance of rain suddenly became very high. We decided to move the photoshoot to early morning, and poor Tuyet had to wake up at 3am (gasp!) to get her makeup done. And guess what, there was zero rain that day…zilch…nada. Urghh seriously?!? But thank you Tuyet and Thuan for being so sweet and accommodating and up for anything. 🙂 Doesn’t Tuyet look so lovely in this Nha Khanh dress?
Special thanks to Duy Ly for doing Tuyet’s hair and makeup and Better Choice Flower for her bouquet. Congratulations Tuyet & Thuan and we look forward to seeing you exchanging vows this summer! 🙂
I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my last blog post! 2015 has been great on all fronts except for the annoying and stubborn colds that have kept me bedridden for days on end. I am almost fully recovered and can’t wait to get back into the swing of things. Lots and lots of photoshoots coming up for your viewing pleasure. 😉
This engagement session was supposed to take place at Malibu beach but we woke up that morning with wind speed at approximately 20mph. We quickly brainstormed for alternate locations and ended up spending the afternoon in beautiful Palos Verdes. Anashe & Ryan were such troopers with the last minute changes and said they were up for anything. Couldn’t have asked for a more easygoing (and good looking) couple! During our first 10 minutes of shooting, Anashe kept apologizing because she couldn’t stop giggling. Are you kidding me, I adore a bride who giggles! The photo below is from one of the very first takes. 🙂
Anashe + Ryan are oozing classic Hollywood glamour and I LOVE it!
Special thanks to Katherine for styling and helping me with this shoot. Congratulations Anashe + Ryan on your engagement and I hope you’re having a blast with wedding planning! 🙂
Hello friends and happy 2015! I’m so excited for the new year but part of me is missing 2014 already. I hope your 2014 was filled with beautiful memories and that this new year will be an extra special one for you! I’m not a huge fan of resolutions because I often make small goals and try to evaluate them as I go along. I’ve recently started following Mark Zuckerberg, you know, the Founder and CEO of Facebook, and saw that he has made some awesome resolutions throughout the years. This year he is committed to reading a new book every other week, and in previous years he made other commitments such as learning Mandarin, be a vegetarian, writing a thank you note to someone each day etc. That inspires me to try out one big resolution each year…so…any cool suggestions for what I should commit to for 2015? 😉
Let’s start off 2015 with a beautiful wedding at The Vineyards, Simi Valley that I was fortunate enough to photograph with Tin. I grew up in the Valley so this is a mere 15-20 minutes from my parents’ house. To brides looking for outdoor venues, look either North of Los Angeles to Simi Valley and Malibu, or South of Los Angeles to San Juan Capistrano and the Orange County vicinities for some elegant and rustic gems. I love me a wedding with details details details and this one doesn’t disappoint. I adore the white and mint theme and all the thoughtful little touches that ShanShan + Quan thought of. And omg, how gorgeous is that ombre wedding cake? Special thanks to Jenny from Kelly Zhang Makeup Studio for the bride’s beautiful hair and makeup.
Cheers to creating more memories and awesome photos in the next 12 months! <3
